Real Time 3D Graphics

This is a core second year module for students on the Computer Games Technology degree programme. This module builds on students’ programming experience to introduce them to 3D real-time graphics development using an industry standard graphics library and programming language. In this module students learn the theoretical underpinnings of 3D graphics – from elementary viewing to scene graphs, gain a basic understanding of contemporary graphics hardware and have an opportunity to develop their own 3D game demo using the full range of techniques taught in the course. Fundamental techniques and algorithms for lighting, viewing, and representing 3D figures and scenes are covered both in theory and in practice

Examination is in the form of both a formal exam (worth 40% of the final mark) and an individual project worth the remaining 60%).

Final Marks:

Exam - 28/40
Project - 54/60
Overall - 82%
Grade - A
